If you already have an established brand these 6 steps will help you to see areas you could improve your brand; ways you could refocus your business. Or just give you reasons to give yourself a pat on the back. See what you think:
1 - Products and Benefits
It’s good to take stock of exactly what is so good about your products or services. What benefits do they provide and essentially how do they set you apart from other businesses.
2 - Values
What is it that you as a business or brand stand for! And most importantly where won’t you compromise. This is a great way to find out what truly matters to you.
3 - Mission
Let’s try and not make this as dull, or as corporate as a ‘mission statement.’ But instead, ask yourself - what business are we in? What business do we want to be in? Try to write it so it differentiates you from the competition and avoid generalizations like ‘increase profit’.
4 - Desired Positioning
What existing brands do you see yourself next to. Who would you like to see your brand getting cosy with.
5 - Style
This comes as a result of answers to questions 1 - 4. This is our department. So if you need help developing or creating this, then come and talk to us. We can define a style (a look and feel) and also a tone of voice that's right for you.
6 - The Future
This isn’t to be confused with point 3 “Mission”. It is instead an outlook (preferably a positive one) of where you see your business being in the future. It’s best to think of this in terms of a forward thinking vision, i.e. where the business being in 6 months, 2 years, 5 years... You get the picture.
Hopefully you’ve gotten something useful out of this post, but we find it’s always best to discuss these things with people both inside and outside your business to get a clearer picture of your brand. So if you do want to talk and find ways to improve your brand, why not come and see us at Planet for a cup of tea or coffee, we’re happy to have a chat.
P.s. We’ve got great biscuits too.
